Hatching Irises Project

This image is almost monochromatic and depicts a large open space with a shaft of light.   It has strong linear qualities with tension released only in the flowers.   Originally done by Pier Sanford titled: Irises.   It is a fine example to use the hatching technique  using coloured pencils.   I used Derwent watercolour pencil (mostly dry) on Canson cotton watercolour 300 gsm A4 medium grained paper.  I liked the simple contrast in the image when I first  came across it in a book.   (Border produced in P/Shop.)Irises Hatching 001psb
